I’m not just a director- I’m trained in ENG truck operation and as a news photographer. On this page, you’ll find video or links to elements of the newscast (packages, etc) that I’ve shot and edited as a photographer for breaking news and live shots.
Shooting breaking news poses its own, changing set of problems each time. I was missing equipment and proper lighting, but managed to shoot video for the morning’s newscast.
In this breaking situation, reporters had to sit and wait. Without being asked, I shot VO and sent tweets from the scene to make sure our viewers were up to date. I also streamed the press conference that occurred later that night via Periscope so that they could learn details just as we learned them.
